slow speeds for any IPv6 tunnel traffic
Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 05 June 2012 16:25:16
Hi,
I have just setup my tunnel to uschi03 and I have full connectivity to IPv6 but the speed is really slow.
I am based in the philippines, and I have a dynamic heartbeat tunnel setup with an MTU of 1280 based on a wiki page I saw.
The tunnel is terminated on an Cisco 877w router with 12.24T7 Advipservices IOS
My tunnel settings are:
interface Tunnel1
description IPv6 uplink to SixXS
no ip address
ipv6 address 2604:8800:100:176::2/64
ipv6 enable
ipv6 mtu 1280
ipv6 nd prefix 2604:8800:100:176::/64 no-advertise
ipv6 rip ipv6rip enable
ipv6 virtual-reassembly
tunnel source BVI1
tunnel destination 38.229.76.3
tunnel mode ipv6ip
My speed test at speedtest reveals my IPv6 address of 2604:8800:100:8176::2 which is correct, but the speeds after completing the test are:
IPv4 2.5 Mbps [local]
IPv6 5 Kbps [tunnel]
Other Details:
OS: Ubuntu 12.04 Kernel 3.4

Can someone please close the last [ code ] for me if that's possible?
slow speeds for any IPv6 tunnel traffic

please close this
I implemented basic IPv6 inspection and firewall on the cisco and this was causing problems because I had the in/out statements reversed on the tunnel interface
I have done the same tests and now get full throughput on my 2.5Mbps dsl line over the tunnel
Cheers :)
