Tunnel T62541 never got it working
Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 28 April 2011 17:23:37
I have asked for a dynamic tunnel only to find out that in fact I needed a Static because that is what is supported my Mikrotik. As a result i changed the tunnel to static.
I have a working config with HE but still i can not get SixXS tunnel to work.
I followed this guide
http://www.sixxs.net/wiki/RouterOS
All firewall rules for protocol 41 and for my pop's ip are clear.
No luck at all.
The GRATH is a much closer pop for me comparing to others. Please help me solve this issue.

Please use the forums for detailing your problem (see the list on the contact page for details).
There is nothing wrong with the PoP side, thus there is nothing we can do to help you.
And if people want to help you, when you post in the forums, you will have to supply them with proper details otherwise they will just ask them again.

I seriously can not find a problem whereas a similar config works perfect with HE.
I even pulled a brand new router out of the box to clean install the config. There must be something strange going on.

Either they named this command wrongly, or it is the wrong command.
Though 6to4 uses protocol 41 it is not protocol 41. See $internet for more details. But this could just be a wrongly named command.
For the rest, I have no idea what platform this is for and no experience with it, thus really can't help out.

I don't know what "HE" uses, but I assume that you are talking about a straight forward static protocol-41 tunnel, in that case there is really no magic and it should just work.
Are you able to do some tcpdumping or see additional information on the device you have?

Yes what you describe is true. It's a protocol-41 tunnel and there is not a lot of complexity to it. You will not be able to see a lot in the dump.
I wonder how those tunnels work here https://www.sixxs.net/forum/?msg=general-3201533
What is the big difference between my pop and the other guys?
It seems that we have the exact same configs. Through a search in the forum for mikrotik. Not much you can go wrong with in the config.
Very Strange!

If I where you I'd check your firewall rules, as trying to get any response on the proto-41 level from your endpoint IP does not respond in any result, not even an ICMP message.
I re-verified the configuration on the PoP and all looks fine.
Thus from that, the only thing that can be wrong is on your side or at least somewhere in between your endpoint and the PoP.

OK i think I got somewhere with it. I got a friend to set a Tunnel up for himself because this was starting to drive me crazy. It worked fine out of the box using the same config.
To cut the long story short, i moved it to another location with a different ISP and guess what. It works. I already tried 2 ISPs and 2 different routers. The third one worked.
I will go back and verify this twice and three times.
After that there's going to be music.
Funny thing is that the first router has a HE tunnel working fine. Could it be possible that that ISP is blocking something towards or from GRNET? I hope not.
Thanks ever so much for your help!
Surely this one was an awkward case that still needs looking into. Never the less the tunnel is up and working great!!!
Thank you!
