Setting up an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS) for use with SIXXS
![]()
Guys,
I am a total IPV6 novice at the moment so please bear with me....
1. I have setup a SIXXS account and requested and received a Tunnel
2. I realised after requesting the Tunnel that I had used the wrong static IPS so I had to spend ISK to change the endpoint (now have -5 isk)
3. I setup the AEBS as a test router using the public IP address of the tunnel on the wan side and specified a manually configured tunnel using the remote IPv4 address from the tunnel definition and the Remote and local IP addresses.
4. I want to specify something for LAN IPv6 Address and LAN prefix length but without a SIXXS Subnet I am not sure what to put in there - I don't have sufficient ISK to "buy" my subnet yet.
I think without a subnet it is going to be hard to get this setup into a working state....
Am I missing something obvious?
What should I do?
Thanks,
Adrian

Can only be done with a subnet, for which you will need a few more credits.

Great,
I added a subnet now everything seems to be working. IPV6 calc shows my IPV6 address.
Thanks,
Adrian

my tunnel with the Apple Airport is up and running too.
but Sixxs can't ping the tunnel endpoint! it seems that the Airport is blocking ICMP packets.
I get -5 points daily...
can you confirm this?

Were you ever able to find any more information on this (the ping issue)? I'd love to use the sixxs tunnel as the latency is lower than the automatic tunneled v6 that the airport express has.

Yes - I never resolved this issue and moved to a DD-WRT based solution instead.

Did you disable the IPv6 firewall on the AEBS? Did sixxs still have problems pinging it?
