Hello all together!
I am running Ubuntu8.04 with radvd to advertise my site-local prefixes in my home lan.
i have a win2k3 and a win vista client.
on win2k3 privacy settings are disabled (default)
when i turn them on (netsh interface ipv6 set privacy enabled) it shows up as beeing enabled, but the adresses are still EUI64 based!
on win vista privacy settings are enabled (default)
when i turn them off it shows up as being disabled but the adresses are still random!
please give me hint!

Couple of options:
* disable and then enable the interface
* unplug and then replug the cable
* reboot the box
That setting only takes effect in those cases afaik.

The 'privacy' toggle generates a new address next to the EUI-64 address.

you mean there should be a second address binded to the interface?
there is only one link-local and one site-local!
both are eui-64
(after reboot, repluged cables, enabled/disabled interface)

"site-local" ? which prefix do you mean? if you fec0::/10 I would not be surprised if special treatment is in place denying privacy addresses, this as in that case management/administrators would not like that.
