ipv6 and NAT
[fi] Shadow Hawkins on Monday, 03 January 2005 18:53:16
Hi all! I have a problem with ipv6 and NAT. I have a router which has a public ipv4 address and it performs NAT to two computers. The router has a working ipv6-tunnel to sixxs, and the two computers behind the router have ipv4 private addresses (192.168...). Now, I'd like to have ipv6 available to the subnet computers also. I have tried to search the net for help with ipv6 and NAT but I haven't found anything sensible. Should I have a subnet from sixxs or use ip6tables or what? Anybody have a clue? Oh yeah, all computers have linux. Mikko

the best way is getting an IPv6 subnet from sixxs, this only cost you some credits. it is easy to setup. good luck

i have never seen anyone doing nat with ipv6. i know there is something related to nat in ipv6, but with a 64bit netmask assigned to a link, i don't think anyone would ever need nat with ipv6. subnet is the right choice, the faq entry 'how do i give connectivity to other hosts...'
