Configure IPv6 on a router

I don't know if I have the right info in the right place.. Please give me some advice. The tunnel is now down. I can't reach any ipv6 adresses except local/lan. Other available tunnel types on my router are: Native, Tunnel 4to6, Tunnel 6rd, Static IPv6. I choose Tunnel 6in4 as tunnel type as you can see below. Info from SixXS: Tunnel Id : T123456 PoP Name : nlams05 (nl.surfnet [AS1103]) TIC Server : tic.sixxs.net (which is the default in AICCU) Your Location : Somewhere, nl SixXS IPv6 : 2001:610:600:xxx::1/64 Your IPv6 : 2001:610:600:xxx::2/64 SixXS IPv4 : 192.87.102.107 Tunnel Type : Dynamic (heartbeat) Configure the IPv6 Internet setting of RT-AC66U. I choose Tunnel 6in4 as tunnel type as you can see below.
You chose a heartbeat tunnel; that requires a host to send a valid heartbeat message next to the proto-41 packets.
.... my router ...
...
... RT-AC66U...
An Asus RT-AC66U. If you have standard firmware you can only use a static tunnel. If you run something like OpenWRT on it you have AICCU support and thus you have the full arsenal of static, heartbeat and ayiya as options.
IPv6 DNS Setting
IPv6 DNS Server 12620:0:ccc::2
IPv6 DNS Server 22620:0:ccd::2
IPv6 DNS Server 32001:4860:4860::8888
That looks quite broken; also mixing DNS providers is a bad idea as you will get unexpected different results from each of them. (Especially in the case of OpenDNS versus Google who filter your queries and return silly websites for typos and other nonsense) Also note that the IPv6 DNS servers will only become available after IPv6 is up. Hence just sticking to the IPv4 DNS resolvers (which also resolve AAAA records for IPv6) is a good idea.

Hi Bjorn, I have an RT-AC66U as well, and for me ipv6 is working from the router. My settings are slightly different: Connection type: Tunnel 6in4 Server IPv4 Address: 192.87.102.107 Client IPv6 Address: 2001:610:600:xxx::2 IPv6 Prefix Length: 64 Tunnel MTU: 0 Tunnel TTL: 255 LAN IPv6 Address: 2001:610:600:8xxx::1 LAN Prefix Length: 64 LAN IPv6 Prefix: 2001:610:600:8xxx:: The important difference is that in LAN IPv6 Address I use the /64 subnet prefix that was assigned to me, instead of the prefix of the tunnel. Furthermore the MTU and TTL are different, but to be honest I have left these to the defaults and not figured out the optimal values. Finally, my tunnel is set to the '6in4-heartbeat' type, as I do not have a fixed IP. I run an aiccu client on one of the machines behind the router; unfortunately the router cannot run aiccu by itself. Edwin
