Problem with subnet and traceroute
[fi] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 13 April 2004 19:45:32
Hi. I have a problem with my ipv6 tunnel & subnet. The whole configuration worked just fine couple of weeks, reverses and all that. But now, traceroute seems to loop around and the ipv6 connection doesn't work with the subnet IP adresses. The configuration is just fine because the subnet worked continuously for couple of weeks before this problem came up. traceroute to tykki.org (2001:14b8:12d::1) from 2001:14b8:100:19::2, 30 hops max, 16 byte packets 1 2001:14b8:100:19::1 (2001:14b8:100:19::1) 50.38 ms 64.242 ms 56.356 ms 2 2001:14b8:0:2000::201 (2001:14b8:0:2000::201) 81.032 ms 68.855 ms 79.295 ms 3 2001:14b8:100:19::1 (2001:14b8:100:19::1) 134.882 ms 31.409 ms 53.665 ms 4 2001:14b8:0:2000::201 (2001:14b8:0:2000::201) 78.836 ms 49.144 ms 36.812 ms 5 2001:14b8:100:19::1 (2001:14b8:100:19::1) 83.564 ms jusez@lelux:~$ ping6 tykki.org -c 2 PING tykki.org(2001:14b8:12d::1) 56 data bytes From 2001:14b8:0:2000::201 icmp_seq=1 Time exceeded: Hop limit From 2001:14b8:0:2000::201 icmp_seq=2 Time exceeded: Hop limit --- tykki.org ping statistics --- 2 packets transmitted, 0 received, +2 errors, 100% packet loss, time 1012ms I have been using a simple bash script to bring up the subnet: #!/bin/bash ifconfig sixxs add 2001:14b8:12d::1/48 ifconfig sixxs add 2001:14b8:12d::2/48 ifconfig sixxs add 2001:14b8:12d::3/48 ifconfig sixxs add 2001:14b8:12d::4/48 route -A inet6 add 2000::/3 gw 2001:14b8:100:19::1 dev sixxs So, what should I do?

I think i have same problem because today my ipv6 tunnel & subnet get stuck. I mean tunnel works just fine: PING 2001:14b8:100:4b::1(2001:14b8:100:4b::1) 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=214 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=125 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=130 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=515 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=163 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=329 ms Little bit laggy..but avarage ping was 70 in last week *D But when I add my subnet and ping again: PING 2001:14b8:100:4b::1(2001:14b8:100:4b::1) 56 data bytes And that's it Then Subnet down again and: PING 2001:14b8:100:4b::1(2001:14b8:100:4b::1) 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=143 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=128 ms 64 bytes from 2001:14b8:100:4b::1: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=173 ms Some problem with subnet. We perhaps have same pop? My tunnel & subnet has worked just fine since i have registered, but problem started today.

this is not only *nix problem if that helps you... (somehow yesterday sonera forced to change my ip's, it's not part of this but i first thought so..) now, only heartbeat tunnel in my windows 2000 works, subnet not. enabled and disabled, no effect. using finnet (fi-hel) pop. so there is something going on :(

Yay, the subnet started to work again.. I wonder if the problem was Finnet's fault.

My tunnel started working yesterday that time too. But later in same day stopped and now im getting this, when i ping: PING 2001:14b8:100:4b::1 (2001:14b8:100:4b::1) 56 data bytes From ::1 icmp_seq=2 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable From ::1 icmp_seq=3 Destination unreachable: Address unreachable etc etc... How about your tunnel? -------------------------------------- My problem is now in ntpd, need to do something about that :r
