Any remote ping6 tools on the web?
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 21 January 2009 20:41:22
Are there any web-based remote ping6 tools, like http://www.wormly.com/test_remote_ping and http://tracert.com/ping_exe.html for IPv4? When experimenting with routers/router firewall setting, it'd be nice to see if my tunnel endpoint is still pingable (without having to wait minutes to see the loss statistics update on the SixXs tunnel info page.)

You can use the traceroute tool, which allows you to see where the PoP thinks your host is, and also actually shows that the PoP you are attached to can reach you. Using random tools around the Internet might mean that you are indeed pingable from that location, but as you are sending your packets back over a different link, the PoP can't ever reach you (as SixXS PoPs do proper uRPF and thus they don't accept packets sourced from their address space from the Internet as that is not where they are supposed to come from)
