unable to connect from internet/network unreachable
[nl] Shadow Hawkins on Tuesday, 22 March 2011 09:16:08
Hello everyone, I seem to have a bit of a problem with my ipv6 net: Aiccu connects without a hiccup and I get an IPv6 address on my sixxs network and radvd sends out IPv6 network addresses for the other computers to use and they can access the internet. So far, so good. But when I try to connect from the internet to my server using IPv6 I can't get any further than the last hop before my server (firewall on server accepts ssh, http, ping and a few other things). #To eth0: $ ssh jf@2001:610:xxx:xxx::1 ssh: connect to host 2001:610:xxx:xxx::1 port 22: Network is unreachable #To sixxs connection: $ traceroute6 2001:xxx:xxx::2 traceroute to 2001:xxx:xxx::2 (2001:xxx:xxx::2) from 2001:1af8:xxx:xxx::2, 30 hops max, 16 byte packets 1 gw-633.haa-01.nl.sixxs.net (2001:1af8:xxx:xxx::1) 8.073 ms 7.963 ms 8.062 ms 2 2001:1af8:4050::1 (2001:1af8:4050::1) 8.06 ms 12.473 ms 8.031 ms 3 be25.crs.evo.leaseweb.net (2001:1af8::19) 9.16 ms 8.613 ms 8.454 ms 4 ae2.jnr02.Asd001A.surf.net (2001:7f8:1::a500:1103:1) 8.748 ms 8.948 ms 8.852 ms 5 AE2.500.JNR01.Asd001A.surf.net (2001:610:e08:76::78) 10.174 ms 8.915 ms 8.674 ms 6 2001:610:f01:9168::170 (2001:610:f01:9168::170) 9.081 ms 9.028 ms 8.799 ms 7 sixxs.surfnet.nl (2001:610:1:80bb:192:87:102:107) 9.533 ms !N 9.158 ms !N 9.226 ms !N #To eth0: $ traceroute6 2001:610:xxx:xxx::5 traceroute to 2001:610:xxx:xxx::5 (2001:610:xxx:xxx::5) from 2001:1af8:xxx:xxx::2, 30 hops max, 16 byte packets 1 gw-633.haa-01.nl.sixxs.net (2001:1af8:fe00:278::1) 8.299 ms 7.853 ms 8.041 ms 2 2001:1af8:4050::1 (2001:1af8:4050::1) 9.303 ms 8.192 ms 7.863 ms 3 be25.crs.evo.leaseweb.net (2001:1af8::19) 9.118 ms 9.081 ms 8.737 ms 4 ae2.jnr02.Asd001A.surf.net (2001:7f8:1::a500:1103:1) 8.916 ms 8.881 ms 8.924 ms 5 AE2.500.JNR01.Asd001A.surf.net (2001:610:e08:76::78) 8.99 ms 9.176 ms 8.673 ms 6 2001:610:f01:9168::170 (2001:610:f01:9168::170) 9.252 ms 8.879 ms * 7 sixxs.surfnet.nl (2001:610:1:80bb:192:87:102:107) 378.289 ms !N 349.98 ms !N 463.787 ms !N #configuration: username JF##-SIXXS password xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx protocol tic server tic.sixxs.net ipv6_interface sixxs tunnel_id T##### verbose false daemonize true automatic true requiretls false Does anyone have any idea what I've done wrong? The !N indicates that the next hop cannot be reached. For SixXS this means that the tunnel that is following that hop is not up. You might actually want to specify what your local node is (the one with the tunnel) and what the remote side is. Obviously the tunnel at the source of this traceroute works, the other one does not.

I checked last night, IPv6 addresses were assigned, I could connect to them on all interfaces but traffic from outside failed to connect. I had to restart AICCU several times (no error messages) before I could connect from remote. Maybe it's because of the dist-upgrade I did a few days ago.....

Actual details are quite useful. Restarting aiccu does not change anything as it does the same thing over and over again, it does not have magic voodoo powers to resolve misconfigurations.
