Second Tunnel & Account ?
[ch] Shadow Hawkins on Wednesday, 26 January 2011 17:25:54
Hi, I got my tunnel working, distributing my subnet to the local lan, and it works fine, I'm happy. (Thanks much guys !) Now I want to apply this setup to a production location (means more traffic, and a lot of cluless users). As I'm technically responsible for this site anyway (a non-profit organisation where I'm the netadmin), I'd like to know if it's ok to ask a second tunnel and subnet for this location. If there is any report, it will be the same contact name anyway (me), so should I double the account or doing a tunnel + subnet request is ok ? Thanks.

I can add, as I'm talking right now with one of the other guys of IP-Max, and I'm too much stuck in my IPv4 thinking (like think low, use low). So as I have 3 boxes in datacenters that needs v6 and 2 other network I deal with that I have to be v6ized, should I ask tunnels for the boxes, and tunnels + subnet for the network with users ? Traffic is not an issue there ( yet ;) ).

Couldn't you just have a subnet for each location, and divide it further? After all, you are getting 65536 subnets of /64 out of a /48. You should have the subnet at /64 at the local lan to have rtadv working anyway, I believe,

Well, my main issue is that at the end, I have 5 differents location with two place where i need to redistribute IPs. (3 servers in differents colo, and 2 non profit org. networks). So I'm not against that idea, I was just wondering about sixxs policy. Is it ok that I request that much (putting aside isks) ?

I have a similar question. I moved and left the SixXS enpodint at my parents house, where it still works. If I want to use SixXS services at my new home, can I get a new Tunnel? It would be nice to have two independent, so I can do connectivity tests between them.

If you got enough credits, then of course.

Will the new Tunnel replace the old one?

It doesn't, it seems. Sorry for the question.
