6in4-static or 6in4-heartbeat
[fr] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 16 December 2010 00:30:55
2 days ago, my 6in4-static tunnel was approved and it seems to work perfectly, although I'm waiting for the credit to request a /48 subnet before I really use it. But now I have a doubt. Although I have a static IPv4 address, my computer that terminates the tunnel is not up 24 hours a day, but only around 16 hours a day. I'm fond of the simple setup of the 6in4-static tunnel with no extra software, but since the tunnel won't be up 24-hours a day, should I consider switching to a 6in4-heartbeat tunnel? Why would it be a problem to use 6in4-static with an endpoint that is not up 24 hours a day?
