forward router advertisements over wireless router
[ch] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 07 October 2010 20:56:06
Hi. I've set up an ipv6 tunnel using aiccu and radvd. Clients directly connected to the radvd station (server which acts as router) do receive router advertisements and are able to create a valid ipv6 address. They are able to reach the internet via ipv6. So far so good. Clients connected to a wireless access point don't get any ipv6 router advertisements and therefore aren't able to create a global ipv6 address. What can I do for redirecting router advertisements through the wireless access point? How can clients be connected behind a wireless router which doesn't support ipv6? kind regards Matthias

What is your "wireless access point" doing, is it configured to route or to bridge? Wireshark might be a good idea to check to figure out what goes on.

it's configured as a router. wireshark doesn't shows any ipv6 traffic. router advertisements won't be forwarded. so far as I know, the wireless router doesn't support ipv6. what are possible solutions to reach wireless clients with ipv6 information? buying a new access point? :)

You'll need to upgrade it in that case... which means firmware or the box. Normally though wireless APs can be put in switching/bridging mode.
