I did not get any ISK after week
Shadow Hawkins on Saturday, 07 August 2010 15:02:37
Hello,
I have set up a tunnel for more than a week, but I did not receive any additional credits needed for requesting a subnet.

Is it the problem on my side?
(According to the graphs and reports i assume that the ping should be fine.)
Thank you

Hi,
you need a tunnel up for at least 2 weeks before receiving additional ISK.
Shortly one of the forum admins will advise you to read the FAQ.

If I understand this:
Dynamic Tunnels
As dynamic (AYIYA and heartbeat) tunnels won't be up all the time it will only receive a 5 ISK bonus
after it has been created for one week. This will thus allow one to request
a subnet after a week of operating the heartbeat tunnel. After that uptime credits
will be given biweekly when the tunnel is alive.
5 credits would be given after the first week.

I am also wondering when I will receive my 5 ISK. My tunnel is created about two weeks ago. The FAQ is quite clear on this, so either I should receive 5 ISK or the FAQ needs to be updated to cover this (new) rules.

One has to distinguish between different tunnel types.
ayiya-Tunnels get 5 ISK after they exist for a week (and I think it has to be working to, but thats my opinion). After that, you get every second week, when the tunnel is up.
static tunnels get 5 ISK every week they are up for. They have to ping at least once every 24 hours.
heartbeat tunnels should be the same as ayiya-tunnels if I've understood the FAQ right.
This much for theory.
For the record: I haven't received any Credits for my dynamic tunnel since end of May (when I got a second static tunnel). Anyone any hints on this issue? Does one only get credits for one tunnel? I use the dynamic one on my notebook and it's normally online during work-hours.

Exactly, it is a dynamic tunnel, thus: "As dynamic (AYIYA and heartbeat) tunnels won't be up all the time it will only receive a 5 ISK bonus
after it has been created for one week." Its dynamic because it is not up all the time, so it doesn't make sense if you say 'it should be working'. If it would be up al the time I would have defined a static tunnel.

It is quite simple:
- static tunnels only get credits every 7 days that they are up
- dynamic tunnels (AYIYA/heartbeat) only get credits every 14 days that they are up
"Up" means that it has to be up most of the day, just having the tunnel up for a few hours is not good enough, it has to be up throughout the day as that would be completely unfair versus the static tunnel users.
If you have a heartbeat/AYIYA tunnel and you keep it up just like the static tunnel users though, then well, you gain credits too.
Do note that "up" is measured with ICMPv6 replies, if those are filtered by you or not send back properly to the PoP-endpoint of that tunnel over the tunnel (note all the words here ;) then you won't be seen as 'up'.
Also note that the system does not mind if you miss a couple of pings, that can happen, but the majority should be there.

What happens if a PoP goes down for two days? Do I still get my credits?
Didn't receive any credit the last three weeks for a static tunnel :(.

Make your endpoint ping and it should not be an issue.

Hi Jeroen!
Can you be a bit more specific about "just having the tunnel up for a few hours is not good enough, it has to be up throughout the day"? Is there a certain value of x hours per day? If yes, could you please tell us?
Thanks for your work!
Stephan!

I haven't received any ISK increase for my static tunnel (#31877). It has been so from the beginning. I've yet to understand what is the issue.

How do I confirm that my endpoint is not pinging or pinging?
I have no outside IPv6 server/host to SSH into to issue a ping6 to my tunnel endpoint from there.
By all accounts I see my endpoint as pinging, because SixXS provided tunnel Latency Statistics (Min. 6.65 Avg. 10.58 Max. 175.85) and Loss Statistics (Min. 0.00 Avg. 0.00 Max. 0.00) graphs are being populated or am I wrong?

Those statistics tell quite a bit, that is why they are there.

What do that statistics tell me? Obviously I can not read it well, because I see as ping loss being 0.00%, but I fail to get any ISK. What is it then?

So, it is eetll01 that is broken and not my router is blocking the ping?
What can I do about it?

Hello,
I have my tunnel normally online every day for about 8-12 hours.
I did not get any credits for a year. I still stay at 1 ISK.
Is this the correct behavior?
Greetings from Germany,
Torben

Yep, if you want to receive credits then you have to let it ping most of the day.

hi,
i created my AYIYA tunnel 3 weeks ago and the tunnel is nearly 24/7 up. i got ISK for the 1 and the 2 week, but no ISK for the last week ..
if the tunnel is online, the machine send every 2 minutes a ping to the other tunnel end point.

I think that is the expected behaviour for a non-static tunnel: As dynamic (AYIYA and heartbeat) tunnels won't be up all the time it will only receive a 5 ISK bonus after it has been created for one week. After that uptime credits
will be given biweekly when the tunnel is alive. (FAQ)

hi,
thanks for response.
you can find in the log this 2 enties
Dynamic Tunnel exists for 1 weeks => 5 ISK
Dynamic Tunnel exists for 2 weeks => 5 ISK
i miss the entry for the 3rd week ... may be next week i get more ISK.

This could be a language problem: "biweekly" means "every other week" (German: "alle zwei Wochen"). - So I think, yes, everything is as it is supposed to be and yes, you probably will get credits next week (and then in three weeks again). :-)

You mean 'in two weeks again'.
Indeed, you get credits for a dynamic tunnel after one week, then when it properly pings every second week; thus week three, five, seven etc...
