SixXS Interface doesn't get created on DD-WRT
[br] Shadow Hawkins on Friday, 28 February 2014 14:50:03
Hello, I think this is more because of DD-WRT but guess other people may have had the same issue when trying to set a SixXS tunnel on it. I'm running a newer version of DD-WRT with kernel version 3.10.24. Build is 23138 and v24-sp2. It works to load the ipv6 kernel module (insmod ipv6.ko), but when I try to load sit.ko and ip6_tunnel.ko it doesn't show up when running a "lsmod" As I result when I run the aiccu (which is built in on the image) it go through the authentication process and gets all the necessary information but fails to bring up a new interface. I suspect this is due to one of those two modules (sit.ko and/or ip6_tunnel.ko) Has anyone had the same issue or is running a different kernel or build version. Please find below the log and see at the end the interface creating failing: Many thanks --------------------------------------------------- root@madruga:/tmp# aiccu start aiccu.conf sock_getline() : "200 SixXS TIC Service on uschi03.sixxs.net ready (http://www.sixxs.net)" sock_printf() : "client TIC/draft-00 AICCU/2007.01.15-console-linux Linux/3.10.24" sock_getline() : "200 Client Identity accepted" sock_printf() : "get unixtime" sock_getline() : "200 1393585395" sock_printf() : "username FFZ3-SIXXS" sock_getline() : "200 FFZ3-SIXXS choose your authentication challenge please" sock_printf() : "challenge md5" sock_getline() : "200 f2a39a874bd3e429dc6ca113cde131d6" sock_printf() : "authenticate md5 27dd158f8ca02c4ce4f5a03d4e493a6c" sock_getline() : "200 Successfully logged in using md5 as FFZ3-SIXXS (Fernando Frediani)" sock_printf() : "tunnel show T142058" sock_getline() : "201 Showing tunnel information for T142058" sock_getline() : "TunnelId: T142058" sock_getline() : "Type: 6in4-heartbeat" sock_getline() : "IPv6 Endpoint: 2001:xxxx:xxx:xxx::2" sock_getline() : "IPv6 POP: 2001:xxxx:xxx:xxx::1" sock_getline() : "IPv6 PrefixLength: 64" sock_getline() : "Tunnel MTU: 1280" sock_getline() : "Tunnel Name: My First Tunnel" sock_getline() : "POP Id: brudi01" sock_getline() : "IPv4 Endpoint: heartbeat" sock_getline() : "IPv4 POP: 201.48.254.14" sock_getline() : "UserState: enabled" sock_getline() : "AdminState: enabled" sock_getline() : "Password: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" sock_getline() : "Heartbeat_Interval: 60" sock_getline() : "202 Done" Succesfully retrieved tunnel information for T142058 sock_printf() : "QUIT In My Garden" Tunnel Information for T142058: POP Id : brudi01 IPv6 Local : 2001:xxxx:xxx:xxx::2/64 IPv6 Remote : 2001:xxxx:xxx:xxx::1/64 Tunnel Type : 6in4-heartbeat Adminstate : enabled Userstate : enabled ioctl: No such device SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device SIOCSIFMTU: No such device ioctl: No such device Cannot find device "sixxs" heartbeat_socket() - IPv4 : 177.xxx.xxx.xxx ioctl: No such device [HB] HEARTBEAT TUNNEL 2001:xxx:xxx:xxx::2 sender 1393585399 ab664b791bed3a5516e87c68f1213e29 [HB] HEARTBEAT TUNNEL 2001:xxx:xxx:xxx::2 sender 1393585399 ab664b791bed3a5516e87c68f1213e29

Fernando, I ran an AYIYA tunnel on a DD-WRT router a couple years ago. My recollection is a bit foggy but I do recall that getting the tunnel up was a bit problematic. As I recall it was apparently a race condition and every time the router was rebooted I had to manually bring up the tunnel from the web interface.

He was likely just missing the right kernel modules, this is also what he states himself.
