No credit for uptime?
[us] Shadow Hawkins on Thursday, 11 June 2009 18:48:51
Hello I have had a dynamic tunnel up for 8 days now. Should I have received credit by now? I would like to request a subnet so that my primary box does not have to stay online and I simply configure my router.

Same question here - also 8 eight days. Are the credits given manually? That would explain a lot.

Dynamic tunnels get credits bi-weekly aka every 14 days, not every week. Of course your tunnel has to ping And no, they are not given out "manually", with over 16000 tunnels that would be impossible.

Sorry, didn't read that biweekly part first few times I went through the FAQ |:( /me == a bit of a n00b at times :+

But does the tunnel have to be always up for 2 weeks? Or is it pure uptime that counts? As I understand it, dynamic tunnels don't have to be always up. Will there be no ISK credited if there's no response at night, for example?

More or less yes, see the FAQ.
Or is it pure uptime that counts?
It has to be 'up', see the FAQ for the exact definition.
As I understand it, dynamic tunnels don't have to be always up.
Correct, same for static ones though. This as the test is simply not performed every single second of the day. But, if you miss a test point then that will be noticed.
Will there be no ISK credited if there's no response at night, for example?
Again, see the FAQ. If you have a dynamic tunnel, then not response is fine as it won't cost you anything, if you do not respond with a static tunnel though, then that will cost you.

What is the credit period for static tunnel? How does the uptime get checked during that time? (I have static tunnel up for 14 days, but I've yet to see an ISK increase to apply for a IPv6 subnet. As long as I have no IPv6 subnet the IPv6 is pretty much useless for me.)

Hi, I have a similar problem without a sub-net. I have a dynamic tunnel. So I just have to bide my time for the next 2 odd weeks. Perhaps there is a need for the powers that be to consider granting a sub-net when a tunnel is created? Ian M

Or you could read the FAQ and get all the answers, including several ways of earning credits without having to do any pinging at all.

I have read the FAQ before posting, the first time and the second time. I am not a software developer, I gave that away 20 years ago. I am slowly learning java and other similar apps to build stuff for group policies. Ian M

Read more of that page, there are many other ways to gain credits.

I am a bit puzzled - isn't the uptime bare minimum needed for the ISK increase or are there a policy change and we need to do "totally something else" for the ISK to grow?

One of the ways, and the primary way that we encourage and the way that can be repeated as many times as possible and is the most effective is that of keeping tunnels up, thus that they ping. There are many others though, as described in the FAQ on how to gain credits though. They are 'or', thus you can do one to gain credits but at the same time another.

Check the graph in the tunnel information, it is not pinging all the time, it is down half of the day.

I wonder what is wrong with my tunnel?

Broken? How do you define it as broken? My side of tunnel endpoint is up and running with no apparent gaps in tunnel graphs.
