Hi, IPv6 multicast streaming is not natively available in most applications, mostly though you probably will find its more difficult to find a client to playback the video stream. For RTP DVB streams, videolan will work if you have *zero* packet loss and all the packets arrive in their exact order....which will never happen. This is because its not good at handling error correction, even for ipv4 streams. mplayer on the other hand will play flawlessly _IPv4_ RTP streams, one patch[1] later all you need is your IPv6 multicast source. At home I have DVB-T streaming across the network but 'dvbstream' does not support IPv6 so I used the protocol reflector 'mbone-reflector-v4m-v6m' referred to in: http://www.m6bone.net/article.php3?id_article=49 And then everything worked. Throw in either the ipv6 multicast routing support from USAGI[2] _or_ the ecmh[3] userspace approach and you can route across subnets. The patch I wrote for mplayer works, but other than on my home network it has not had much testing; plus I have not used it for a while, tv reception is on the blink :( , so I don't know if it still works. Good luck Alex [1] http://www.digriz.org.uk/mplayer-ipv6-multicast.diff [2] http://www.linux-ipv6.org/ [3] http://unfix.org/projects/ecmh/
