SixXS opens its doors to the publicWednesday, October 23rd, 2002
The SixXS project will be launched to the public.
Users of IPng (nlams02) will be able to manage their tunnels (/127) and subnets (/60), using the new provisioning system using a web-interface.
Concepts (nlams01) opened up their PoP for the public, users can now also request tunnels (/64) and subnets (/48) to their PoP.
AMS-IX IPv6 Awareness DayWednesday, October 23rd, 2002
Today is the AMS-IX IPv6 Awareness Day, SixXS will be presented there and taken in to action by the visitors. They will start using the AMS-IX PoP.
Allowing a quick peek into the future and a step into the world of IPv6 for many ISPs connected to the AMS-IX.
Multiple Power Failures in AmsterdamWednesday, November 6th, 2002
Due to a big power failure in Amsterdam, two out of four AMS-IX locations had a brownout along with 80% of Amsterdam.
Also NIKHEF was affected where IPng is housed.
The power has stabilized again and everything is running smoothly.
noc.sixxs.net is located in Breda so it wasn't directly affected by this problem.
PSINet Europe's PoP, demun01 airsSaturday, November 9th, 2002
demun01, a PoP hosted by PSINet Europe in Muenchen, Germany has been added to the public PoPs.
It's from now on open for requests from the Tunnel Request menu serving out /64 tunnels and /48 subnets on request.
This PoP was called Cybernet AG until PSINet Europe acquired them.
Reverses changed to sixxs.netWednesday, November 13th, 2002
Finalizing the IPng migration, reverses for the public PoPs are now in the form of:
gw-[number].[pop].[tld].sixxs.netcl-[number].[pop].[tld].sixxs.netgw (gateway) is the SixXS PoP side of the tunnel which will be seen on outgoing traceroutes, cl (client), is the endusers side of the tunnel as will be seen on incoming traceroutes. The Points of Presence section now contains a map depicting the physical locations of the PoPs provisioned by the SixXS system.
Ghost Route HunterSunday, December 1st, 2002
SixXS is proud to present a tool for detecting Ghost Routes in the IPv6 routing table.
This tool is named Ghost Route Hunter and can be found in our Misc section.
